@Jose Zepeda welcome! Make sure to listen to all of the podcasts if you have not already and if you can make it out to the BP Meetups this month.

@Daniel Harris welcome! Come out to one of the local BP Meetups if you can in July (@Johnson H. hosts a great one in Milpitas). There are a few that come out regularly that invest out of state and you should pick their brain to get a better idea of what they enjoy (and hate) about it.

@Allen Saeteurn sounds like a good find! If that is the case, you honestly might have some luck asking the neighbors whats going on. Most cities will also have someone down at the office that is aware of what is going on if it is truly boarded up.

@Allen Saeteurn good old door knocking might be your best bet ;)
If it is vacant, then as @Chris Townley mentioned neighbors are a great resource.

@Israel R. welcome! As you go through the process and ultimately decide on where you are going to invest, just make sure to align your investment with your goals. For most people going out of state, I usually advise them to try and grow quickly so they get better economies of scale. If that is the case, try your best to make sure the first one is in the area you want to grow (with the team you want to).

@Scott Spicer early welcome (assuming you mean San Mateo, CA). Definitely try and attend the August event and in July there will be a few different Meetups as well that are great hosted by some local BPers.

@Ashley Watkins welcome! There are so many different ways to get involved in real estate that just having an idea of what you want to do is a great start. Depending on where in SF you end up, and what you are willing to do in terms of commuting, the East Bay (Oakland) should have some properties close to public transit that will allow you to buy a 2-4 unit and get into landlording (you can use the income from the rental units to help you qualify if your salary is not through the roof).

@Ryan Mudry welcome! Try to listen to the podcasts if you have not already. I consider them to be an MBA in REI without the student loans.
@Randy C. welcome as well. There are a lot of active buyers/sellers looking for great mortgage products. If you can add value here there are unlimited clients.
@Tonya Peterson welcome to you as well. The SF market is a different beast, but one of the best ones to be active in.
