@Taj Hayden A business partner can be great for starting out. If I can make a recommendation I would set aside 5-10 % of the purchase price towards unexpected expenses.

@Perez Leanne Have you considered working with business partners on multifamilies? Me and my boyfriend are moving to Jacksonville to invest in multifamily apartment complexes and have been looking for someone with a legal background. Feel free to shoot me a PM if interested.

@Spencer Liddic Awesome work!

Have you done any seller financing along the way, and have any experiences that you can share?

And if not, do you have any recommendations for newbies looking to get their first bank loan?

@Account Closed Before you do your networking be sure you got your real estate goals and elevator pitch ready. What is it you want to accomplish with real estate and what are you looking for? Answer those questions in a sentence or two and you got your elevator pitch.

Once you got that start by taking people out for coffee (or stop for a chat or two in the office first to build rappory).

@Joseph Bramante Thanks for mentioning syndication. I'm trying to read up on the topic, and you mentioned something interesting. What would you say is a qualified syndicator as opposed to an unqualified one?

@AJ Singh Househacking is a great vehicle to become financially free. I recommend you read "Set for Life" by Scott Trench. It talks about the benefits of househacking combined with frugal living to achieve faster financial freedom.

@Raina B. Having worked with insurance both in the US and abroad I can recommend you begin building a relationship with local insurance agents or brokers as soon as you can. This becomes more and more important as your portfolio grows. Although one shouldn't buy anything an insurance agent throws at you, it doesn't hurt making the connection and getting to know some of them.
