So you spent $4000 to get one deal - that will end up making you more than $4000? Sweet! @Dave Hurt

Hey @Trevor Hall, Welcome to BP. Houston is a great market to invest in - HOT, yes, but there are still opportunities to be found. I am moving to Houston in two months as well, and will first be renting for a couple of months and then purchase a property to live in, and rent out a year later. Good luck investing! And make sure to check out www.biggerpockets.com/UBG

Hey @Nathan Hartmann and welcome to BP! I enjoyed reading about why you want to invest in RE and it is inspiring. Keep on and don't give up. When you feel like quitting, remember why you started.

Make sure to check out www.biggerpockets.com/UBG - it is a great guide to get you started in REI.

Good luck!

@Dave Hurt Awesome man! A big congrats to you! How many months did you send out the letters before landing your first deal? Again, awesome job.

I usually just look up the rent for an area on trulia. It doesn't give you the exact rent as it only is based on rent per bedroom. But it gives you a feel of how high the rents can be.
