Was there an actual credit inquiry associated with this? If not, it could be a merging of credit files which is the fault of the cra. The occupants could be totally innocent

The top true FICO score is 850. Some lenders use their own scoring model that can vary in range. The scoring system created by Fair Issac is the gold standard.

I am going to run a bit counter to most comments here. There never is a shortage of people telling you to "go for it" on the internet. Remember that. You can start right now in real estate by building your financial base and knowledge base. There are always people out there that will say that you don't need any money or experience to succeed in real estate. That might be true but many of the same people have winning the lottery as their retirement plan. You have to balance the extremes of never doing anything because you are waiting on perfect and jumping into shark infested waters when you can't swim. (Remember there are people that will tell you to jump in) Right now you need to work on building some cash reserves and lining up sources of financing. Also, begun establishing credit it you haven't already, and make sure your credit profile is strong. Continue to educate yourself by reading these forums and taking to real life local investors. Join a local real estate investing group and develop new contacts and maybe even find mentor. Get yourself into the strongest position possible to insure success.

Your landLord is upholding their end of the contract. They shouldn't be expected to make your problem yours. On the other hand, the builder is working for you on YOUR property. Don't ask for the keys TELL the builder that you want them or you will bust the door open and it will be fixed at HIS expense.

Shouldn't that information be available on your state real estate licensing board's website?

I believe that if I was applying for a rental and the landlord asked for my bank statements I would cheerfully comply. In turn, I would ask for bank statements and a credit report from the landlord in order to insure that they would be financially able to continue making the mortgage payments so I wouldn't be out on the street when they didn't fulfill their commitments.

The absolute best is to never let a balance report on a credit card account except for $2 on only one account. How do you do this? You pay the balance in full each month a day or two BEFORE the closing date.

The neighbor's driveway is the source of the problem. is he reasonable? Perhaps an asphalt curb at the edge of his driveway that channels water away will solve your problem. I am not recommending to lawyer up but it seems there has to be something legally wrong with him paving to the property line and causing you property damage.
