i use junk as a discount then pay people to clean them out

if you have not closed on the property yet@Bruce Scannell then i would just get a couple of quotes on removing the pipe then plug that number into to your math you are using to buy the house and see if it still makes since to purchase the house.

where i live we have a lead and copper rule to use so you could just have it tested it is not very expensive and use results to negotiate better price

i agree with@Arlen Chou you do not want to take any chances since an inspector told you about the pipe

hi @Chris Wood i would read here and determine what is truly a deal 

take some money and do some direct to seller marketing

craigslist ads,driving for dollars,yellow letters,probate,trusts lists,absentee owners,distressed properties

this has happened to me when i first started @David S.  go talk to the city inspectors in person and pull the proper permits.

always do any rehab the proper way by pulling permits it will help you sell if you are going to sell 

if you plan is to rent, the house will be safe
