Welcome to BiggerPockets!
House hacking is a great way to start small but take action.
Here are a few of my recommendations for getting started:
1️⃣ Download this ultimate beginner’s guide: https://assets2.biggerpockets.com/uploads/user_file/file_object/1694/UBG_2018.pdf
2️⃣ Read BP beginner books on investing: https://store.biggerpockets.co...
Also, read Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
3️⃣ Subscribe to BP podcasts or YouTube channel and watch their webinars.
4️⃣ Ask questions here on the forums.
5️⃣ Visit (join) a local (and legit) real estate investment association.
6️⃣ Consider joining a BP bootcamp: https://www.biggerpockets.com/blog/real-estate-investing-bootcamps
I wish you all the best in your investing journey!

Make sure the property will cash flow as an LTR first, so if the STR doesn't work out, you can pivot.
I wish you all the best.

Welcome to BiggerPockets!
I'm active duty Air Force and maxed out my VA loan benefit with three properties.
Converting a primary residence into a rental is a great way to start.
You can also look to get your real estate agent license or license in another field of real estate, like home inspector or mortgage loan originator.
There are Skillbridge programs for real estate as well.
Like you, I'm a couple of years from retirement and wanted to start now to build a solid foundation for our next chapter.
Let me know if you want to chat further.
I wish you all the best.

If you find it's cheaper to buy (or want to find out), check out the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA).
NACA was formed in 1988 and provides an affordable option for potential first-time buyers:
✅ No down payment
✅ No closing costs or fees
✅ No mortgage insurance
✅ No consideration of credit score
✅ Below market fixed interest rate
There are several requirements to be eligible for the program, starting with attending one of their workshops.
I wish you all the best.

Welcome to BiggerPockets!
I've converted my primary residences to long-term rentals. It's a less costly option if you don't mind moving.
I'm active duty military, so it comes with the job for me.
I wish you all the best.
