Have fun and good luck with your scouting trip! Quite a few good areas in the Midwest to invest -- looks like you've already established some potentials.

I currently live in Evanston and commute to Lincoln Park for work. I live about a block away from the purple line, so I can get to Armitage in 30 minutes. Evanston is a great area for families -- a little mix of the suburbs with some of the amenities of the city. I would also check out Roscoe Village, Southport Corridor, Andersonville, Lincoln Park, and West and South Loop. I'd personally stay a little farther away from Wrigleyville, as it's pretty crazy in the summer, making traffic and parking pretty difficult.

ABC bike experiment

I feel like the subject in this article probably felt he was profiled, but he did not do anything to help his cause. I believe the act itself is suspicious enough to warrant a call to the police regardless of appearance. Neighbors generally know who lives next door to them.

I also noticed there were two exam prep books at the library -- not really sure how up-to-date they are, but could be a good free option.
