Welcome @Phillip Dunbar! Love it when a newbie joins us here in Chicago!  There's a lot of great stuff going on here!

What's been most useful to me has been:

-becoming a Pro member and getting increased access to the BP assets

-getting on the weekly webinars with @Brandon Turner

-listening to the podcasts

-jumping in and devouring as much *free* info here on BP from the experienced investors as I can

-connecting with colleagues here

-attending meetings, networking, and getting in front of as many people as possible

Jump in with both feet!  Ask lots of questions! Make a plan, know your "Why", and have fun!

WOWOWOW!

"Thank you to everyone who has made BiggerPockets their destination for real estate investing networking, content, and tools! We are thankful that you have placed your trust in us."

I am grateful for the awesome BP community and the wealth of opportunity, education, information and experience available here!  That's an incredible milestone you should be proud of, but we can't really be surprised...! :)

Keep it going!!!

Post: New Investors: Get Educated or not?

This is a great thread, and I admit the benefits of a great REI education are many, and it's critical to have...though I think we all agree on the multiple ways of attaining that education. I'll admit to still be very new, but the free education here on BP combined with my mentorship relationship and exposure is definitely setting me in the right direction...!

Grateful for this BP community every single day! :)

Post: How Much Business Does YOUR Website Drive?

I haven't been able to discern the general consensus on when to introduce a website when you are new to the RE investing game.  When is the right time?

Also, from you experienced investors, what kind of traffic/leads does your website drive to your business? Is your website critical to your business, or do you not see the traffic you would like?

I understand marketing is multi-faceted...if you have a website you then have to find ways to actively drive traffic to your site....and there are many ways to market depending on your specific niche...

Just curious to know how essential your website is to your business as an overall marketing tool?

TIA!

Great thread here @Jonathan Twombly!

You touch on a hot button for a lot of new investors...fear of the unknown.  And while I share many of your initial fears when you first started, my fear of not being successful is greater than my fear of the unknown, which propels me forward.  I will make mistakes I know, but I am grateful for @Brandon Turner and @Joshua Dorkin and the entire BP community for the wealth of resources here...knowing that I will make a whole less mistakes because of this community.

I am inviting you to meet up with me so we can get to know one another and each other's business & partnership needs next week!

Specifically, at this meeting I'm looking to meet with:

  • Attorneys (real estate, probate, bankruptcy & foreclosure)
  • Bankers
  • Mortgage Brokers
  • RE Inspectors
  • Landlords
  • Property Managers
  • Wholesalers

Plan for 30 minutes to get to know one other and discuss potential partnership opportunities, and share  contact info (and a coffee!), and then go about the rest of your day!

Meeting in Schaumburg next Tuesday morning (6/2).  Only a few slots left, email me if interested and we'll work out the time & I'll share location.
