I shuttle back and forth between here and Houston as well though and I will be expanding my business into Houston with in the next few months. Good luck man feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions. Although since i'm not in the commercial side of the business I may not be your best bet : ) But happy to help if I can!

I've been to the 3 day. Paid $100 for it and it was definitely worth that. I know one person who paid 10K for one of his programs and was disappointed (this person was a dental assistant who really had no clue what she was getting into). But the 3 day for $100 is definitely worth it, I would say even for experienced investors. The content is good. Constant sales pitch does get pretty annoying. I will say I have met some people who are glad they spent the 10K to join his program because of the network they get to tap into. But yeah man content is good, just be aware it's a giant sales pitch/funnel into different mentorships with higher fee's. The mentorships are mainly online modules.

@Aaron Mazzrillo lets all of his calls go to voicemail with pretty good success. Up until now I do the same thing as far letting all my calls go to voicemail and i've had some good success. Curious to see if you've tried it.

Omid, also look into renting properties by the room....it's actually much simpler than it seems i've done it successfully in the past with good results. But there are a few things you need, ideally no HOA, good parking etc..... PM me if you have any specific questions.
Say you can get $600 a room (seems likely in Portland check Craigslist for active listings to see the market) and get a 5 bedroom house you're looking at 3K revenue so adjust for expected PITI and utilities and see if you cashflow. Run numbers on different properties and see how the numbers look I bet you'll find a few that work well with this model. Check city Ordinances also for how many unrelated people you can have in a property. Haha there is actually quite a bit more to it, but I figured it's one more option for you. Feel free to PM me if you need any help, good luck!

This is a neat thread! Cool to see all the different backgrounds.
BS Philosophy and Minor Business UT Austin
(Quite honestly I did the college thing for my parents and because I got a full academic scholarship I really had no interest in going to college......but looking back on it now i'm really glad I went it was an amazing 4 years)
RE License
Elementary Teaching Certification (Taught 1st grade for 5 years)
100 or so RE/Entrepreneurial books...
Like a bunch of you guys I was always an entrepreneur. My dad says he first noticed it when there was a random stranger mowing the lawn, when he asked the guy why he was at our house mowing the lawn the guy said "The kid paid me $10 to mow it". Haha I was like 6 years old and my dad gave me $20 to mow the lawn so I hired a guy off the street and made $10 to watch him mow the lawn! Eazy money! I've also owned a fleet of 15 Pedicabs in Downtown Austin for a while and several other small businesses , barbacoa sales, car washes etc....

I have used both @Michael Quarles and @Jerry Puckett. Both solid guys and I have actually done a deal using marketing from both of the campaigns they ran for me. Pick one and run a 6 month campaign...they can pretty much do step 2 for you (likely much better than you can if you are new) and step 3 is easy, set up a google voice #.
Good luck man!
